The maximum hours for part-time work in Malta differ from sector to sector. But according to Maltese law, part-time jobs can't cover more than an average maximum of 40 hours a week. In addition, if a Wage Regulation Order establishes fewer hours for that particular sector, the maximum will be even less than 30 hours. You are allowed to have your first full-time or part-time job at 16. However, adolescents aged 16 to 18 can’t work between 22:00 and 06:00. Unless a justification deserves an exemption—for instance, cultural, artistic/design, sports or advertising activities. Nevertheless, there are no exceptions for juniors under 16.
