Mallard Co. Ltd in Malta is looking to recruit a Sous Chef to join their team on a full-time basis.
Job Role:
The right candidate will have a positive attitude, be enthusiastic, able to cover the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence as well as understand stock control and ordering procedures. You’ll be responsible for the supervision, preparation, and service of food, ensuring that the highest standards are maintained at all times in keeping with the Hotel’s high standards. You will also be required to ensure that strict hygiene regulations are adhered to. You’ll first and foremost have a passion for food, be extremely hard working, and be excited by developing new menus and ideas with a focus on seasonality and quality produce. Our client has high standards however the most important ingredient they are looking for is a passion for the kitchen and a desire to be the best.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Certificate or Diploma in Food Preparation from a Catering Institute;
In the position of a Food Handling Certificate;
Minimum 5 years work experience in a kitchen, preferably in a hotel;
Fluent in English;
A proactive approach to dealing with issues that may arise;
Highly organized, able to multitask and prioritize and work under pressure.
