Hutchinson Malta Ltd is looking to recruit a Health & Safety Environmental Officer to join their team on a full-time basis. 

Job Role: 
The HSE Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring site-specific health, safety, environmental and energy operations and tasks, according to the group and country standards or regulations. The HSE Officer is the primary contact for employees and supervisors concerning safety-related matters, he/she is responsible to provide efficient guidelines and training to the employees. This includes but is not limited to risk management activities, industrial hygiene, applicable report writing, industrial HSE compliance auditing, emergency response, HSE training, incident investigation, data trending and analysis, internal communication, organisation of “events”.

Main Duties:
  • Assists teams to deliver an exemplary HSE performance by coaching them towards the right mindset: Provide training and tools, and control their application (3 shifts).
  • Carries out immediate Incident & Near Miss investigation, using PPC tool.
  • Provide immediate response in emergency situations.
  • Define, follow and revise strategic roadmaps for HSE and Sustainability projects.
  • Perform audits to measure the level of safety culture (facilitates, processes, etc..).
  • Implement and maintain an efficient HSEE Management system as per requirements.
  • Identifies potential and actual areas of improvement and assists in setting and formulating goals and tools for their achievement.
  • Lead (re)certifications of ISO14001, ISO50001, and ISO45001.
  • Deploy digital HSEE tools to improve the efficiency of actions and engagement of employees.
  • Daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports as per Plant and Corporate standards.
Additional Duties:
  • Assists in the development and delivery of Operational Processes safely.
  • Provides input to leading and lagging HSE performance measures.
  • Manage the stock level of PPE and other HSE-related items.
  • Carry out any other duties as requested by the management.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides field HSE support and guidance throughout all activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory and contract HSE requirements.
  • Ensures Incidents are recorded, reported, and actioned.
  • Respect, follow, and deploy the HSE, Sustainability & HES Corporate guidelines.
  • Enforces company Policies and Procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure that Company Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Act in accordance with the Total Code of Conduct in the carrying out of duties.

Your Profile:
  • Have a solid background in Health and Safety, Site Supervision, or other related background.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001.
  • Extensive knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation and policies.
  • A proven track record in managing people is desired.
  • Knowledge of Maltese is preferred, however, proficiency in English is required - written and spoken.
  • Sound Computer skills.
  • Good communicator at all levels.
  • Analytical and a problem solver.
  • Able to stay calm in challenging situations.
  • Approachable with leadership skills.
  • Team player.
Qualifications:
  • Health and Safety Nebosh Certification would be an asset.
  • Diploma level of Education or better required.
