Take a Psychedelic Trip this month with Elrow. This international music event arrives in Malta on the 15th September and fully intends to be the craziest party of the summer. Past events featured confetti cannons, dancing chickens, streamer explosions, and an atmosphere like a techno-hippy commune on roller skates. The DJs are huge and the performers will blow your mind. Here’s what you need to know:
Where, when and how much?
This year, the festival is located at Uno Malta (Crafts Village) in Ta’ Qali – click here for a map . The festival starts at 6pm and goes on until 4am, with last entry at 1am. General entry costs €32 and VIP tickets are €64.80.
There’s some groovy energy coming Malta’s way, including lysergic sitar tracks (nope, we’re not sure what it means either), which, organisers say, will “get you into a special mood and fly you off into peace and love heaven.” Headliners include:
DUBFIRE. This Grammy award winning American-Iranian techno DJ will rock your world. He’s worked with the likes of Underworld, Loco Dice and Plastikman and recently broke a world record for the longest solo DJ set. He also likes saké. A lot.
CAMELPHAT. The British duo consist of Dave Whelan and Mike di Scala and they make ‘authentic, timeless house music’. Get ready to lose yourself in the ‘emotion-rich, sub-soaked, silky-synth sounds’.
TONI VARGA. Toni’s mission is for you to have fun and he makes that pretty easy. Enjoy the trippy vibes!
ANDRES CAMPO. Expect a full-on techno set that will make your head spin from Spaniard Andrea.
CARL BEE. Local boy Bee hails from Gzira and has a talent for picking up unknown tracks and turning them into dance floor monsters.
How do I fit in?
Easy – shout ‘make elrow, not war’, get into the good vibes, lose your shoes, hug a tree, hug a stranger, spread the love.
Adults 17 and above.
How do I get tickets?
https://www.ticketarena.com.mt/ticket/?event=427874. The last one in Ibiza sold out, so make it quick.
Where can I find out more?
Check out Elrow’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/events/169290340423165/ or visit their website. There’s also a pretty cool documentary on the origins of the show here.
“Live the summer of love with kaleidoscopically painted vans and caravans as well as everything else you need to have the trippiest of trips. Don’t miss the garden, with its glowing psychedelic plants that nobody knows where they came from.”
“You’ll be really sorry if you miss this one”.
