National Statistics Office in Malta is currently looking to recruit an Administration Officer 5 (IT Systems) to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job details:
The National Statistics Office (NSO) is looking for a talented and inspiring individual to join the Office in the position of Administration Officer 5 with a specialisation in IT Systems. This position is an excellent career opportunity for prospective candidates with an academic background in Information Technology, computer architecture and computer networking.

The successful candidate must demonstrate:

  • Excellent level of interpersonal and communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (preferably with a European Computer Driving License - ECDL qualification)
  • Solid organisational and planning skills; and
  • Good analytical and numerical skills supported by a basic knowledge of Statistics.


Responsibilities
The duties of an Administration Officer 5 with specialisation in IT Systems include:

  • Coordinating, supervising and contributing to the collection process of official statistics from household, undertakings and/or administration registers
  • Preparing material for and support in training programs
  • Documenting internal work practices and processes
  • Liaising with colleagues internally as well as external national and international stakeholders
  • Assistance in the preparation of news releases and publications
  • Assistance in the preparation of reports and user requests in a timely manner
  • Assistance in the monitoring of the unit’s outputs
  • Contribution during meetings held with stakeholders and execute administrative duties which include taking minutes and drafting internal reports
  • Carrying out other duties such as filing, and coordination of work plans and schedules
  • Carrying out any other ancillary duties as may be assigned by superiors
  • Adherence to internal Policies and if necessary, support in the implementation and monitoring of such Policies, and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.


Working Conditions
The position carries a starting remuneration of €28,284 for the year 2023, which increases annually subject to a positive performance review. This remuneration excludes qualification allowances and any overtime pay, which is reimbursed separately on an ad hoc basis, as the need arises.

Requirements
Applicants for this post must:

  • Be in possession of an MQF Level 5 Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field of study, together with seven (7) years, or equivalent, of relevant experience; OR
  • Be in possession of an MQF Level 6 bachelor’s degree or higher in a subject area related to Information Technology. Candidates who have not yet formally obtained the award of an MQF Level 6 qualification or higher, will still be considered, provided that they submit evidence that they are in the final phase of their course leading to such qualification/s
  • Demonstrate a good command of the English language, together with Maltese or any other official European language
  • Be in possession of a clean Police Conduct (issued within the last 6 months).
