Our well-established client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual to join their team as a Marine Cargo Surveyor. In this role, the chosen candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections and surveys of cargo on ships and in ports to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and surveys of cargo on ships and in ports to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards
  • Verify the quantity, quality, and condition of cargo being transported
  • Inspect cargo holds, containers, and other storage areas for cleanliness and proper stowage
  • Document and report any discrepancies or damages found during inspections
  • Communicate with ship captains, port authorities, and other relevant parties to coordinate inspections and resolve any issues
  • Provide recommendations for improvements in cargo handling and stowage procedures
  • Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and standards related to cargo transportation
Skill-sets and Requirements
  • Candidates must be fluent in both Maltese AND English
  • Candidates must be
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and report discrepancies
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure
  • Willingness to travel and work in various locations, including ports and ships
  • Physical fitness and ability to climb ladders and move around in confined spaces
  • Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of international maritime regulations and industry standards
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a passion towards the maritime industry
Education & Experience
  • A Level Standard of Education as a minimum
  • Qualifications in Marine Transportation, Maritime Studies, or a related field are an asset
  • Prior experience in a similar role, or in shipping/maritime, insurance is mandatory
  • Candidates with an education background in the field and prior administrative experience in absence of the above, will be considered
