PLANNING SCHEDULER

Planning Scheduler for a fleet of trucks is responsible for coordinating and optimising the scheduling of transportation activities to ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods.

Key responsibilities typically include:

1. Client relationship: receiving orders, accurately documenting them, and interacting with clients in a professional manner.

2. Route Planning: Developing and optimising delivery routes to minimise costs and maximise efficiency while considering factors such as traffic, weather, and delivery windows.

3. Scheduling: Creating and maintaining schedules for truck drivers, ensuring compliance with regulations regarding driving hours and rest periods.

4. Resource Allocation: Assigning trucks and drivers to specific routes based on availability, vehicle capacity, and operational needs.

5. Communication: Liaising to drivers, production personnel, clients and other stakeholders to provide updates on schedules, changes, and any issues that may arise.

6. Data Analysis: Monitoring and analysing performance metrics to identify areas for improvement in scheduling and fleet operations.

7. Problem Solving: Addressing scheduling conflicts, delays, and other operational challenges in a timely manner to maintain service levels.

8. Compliance: Ensuring that all scheduling practices adhere to industry regulations and company policies.

9. Reporting: Preparing reports on scheduling efficiency, fleet utilisation, and other key performance indicators for management review.

Overall, the role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Proficiency in scheduling software and a good understanding of logistics and transportation operations are also essential
