Role: Security Officer

The security officer will be responsible for ensuring the overall safety, security and well-being of all personnel, visitors and the premises.  

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintain a safe environment by patrolling property, inspecting the building and monitoring surveillance equipment
• Report any incidents, alarming behaviour and other suspicious activity
• Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities
• Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers
• Routine security checks of the building to make sure that locks and access points are operating smoothly
• Check security equipment and systems to make sure they function optimally
• Complete preventive maintenance requirements following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling suppliers and following up on repairs when necessary
• Provide excellent customer service and assistance
• Comply with legal requirements and remain in compliance with local regulations, at all times
• Respond to emergency situations to provide necessary assistance to employees and customers
• Protect the company's assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues
• Follow procedures for various initiatives, including fire prevention, patrolling premises regularly, traffic control, and accident investigations
• Control traffic in the parking area, if necessary.

Applicants for this position shall:

• Have an excellent command of Maltese and English, both written and spoken
• Have practical knowledge of local legislation related to security and health & safety
• Have effective written and verbal communication skills and must be able to communicate clearly and in a concise manner
• Be able to manage multiple tasks
• Be a team player
• Be flexible in approach, self-motivated, and able to work independently
• Demonstrate an ability to act with tact and discretion
• Be well-presented and organised.

Basic Requirements for Security Guard:

• Have (3) years of experience in a similar role
• Have a clean police conduct
• Must possess a valid private guard licence
• Must be computer literate
• The security office must be willing to work a flexible roster including Sundays, Public Holidays and Night Shifts
• First Aid Certification will be considered an asset.
