Maintenance Operator
CareMalta is currently looking to recruit a Maintenance Operator to join their team on a full-time basis.

CareMalta Group is Malta’s market leader in providing quality services in nursing and residential elderly care, specialised dementia care, operates and manages residential facilities for persons with disability including respite services as well as taking care of persons with intellectual disabilities. Being leaders in the care sector since 1993, CareMalta Group today cares for over 1,700 clients and employs a workforce of over 1,300 highly dedicated and well-trained personnel.
The Role:
We are looking for a dedicated Maintenance Operator to join our team and oversee the maintenance and upkeep of one of our facilities. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety, functionality, and appearance of our facilities. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of maintenance tasks, from electrical and plumbing repairs to general facility maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and conduct preventative maintenance on various equipment and systems, including pumps, kitchen equipment, and laundry machines
- Perform breakdown repairs on appliances and equipment as needed
- Perform various maintenance tasks, including plumbing repairs (replacing washers, faucets, and seals), installation of light bulbs, doors, cabinets, panelling, tiles, computer cables, and painting (interior and exterior walls) when necessary
- Maintain the efficient function of boilers
- Promptly report any unusual occurrences or potential damage to the Facility Manager
- Coordinate and assist in special projects as directed by management
- Monitor work performed by outside contractors and ensure quality standards
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanour when interacting with residents, contractors, and colleagues
- Adhere to safety standards and comply with company policies
- Manage inventory controls to ensure cost-effective operations
- Maintain monthly inspection and maintenance records for building and equipment
- Handle store requisitions and maintain maintenance stores in an orderly manner
- Perform any other work directed by respective managers
- Attend training programs/courses to enhance skills and knowledge.
Skills and Requirements:
- A methodical approach to work and problem-solving
- Proficiency in English and Maltese Language will be considered as an asset
- Basic computer skills
- License A qualification will be considered an asset
- An ability to multi-task and to work well under pressure
- A Diploma in maintenance-related work or practical experience working in maintenance.
CareMalta was the first private company in Malta to invest in developing a privately owned, purposely built facility for the older persons, in Mosta in 1993, and then later in Rabat in 1996. CareMalta was also the first private company to closely collaborate with Government in developing Malta's first Public Private Partnership (PPP) in older persons care at Zejtun in 1994. This PPP relationship continues to develop very successfully, so much so that CareMalta today operates two other Government owned facilities at Cospicua (opened in December 1999) and Mellieha (opened in March 2008). With the Mellieha Home, CareMalta Group managed to win the largest every PPP contract yet awarded for a 30 year concession period to fund, build and facility manage this new 'state of the art' home. The Group also operates the Prince of Wales Apartments in Sliema, Malta's first Independent Living facility for Active Adults. The latest development to this group is the launch of the seventh home ‘Roseville’ in Attard which opened its doors to its residents in June 2010.
