Head of R&D

Our client is looking for a Head of Research & Development to join their team. Your roles and responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating the transfer of process technology and validation efforts for manufacturing generic APIs and solid oral dosage forms, whether they are from other R&D centers within the group or third-party sites.
• Supervising development projects with both internal and external clients, overseeing the process from initial development through to product launch.
• Offering scientific guidance, expertise, and assistance to various operational units and processes within the manufacturing plants.
• Leading a diverse team of scientists across multiple sites, ensuring they have the necessary support and infrastructure to excel in their roles.
• Taking overall responsibility for R&D activities within the Malta sites
• Assessing and preparing proposals for contract manufacturing opportunities.
• Collaborating with other R&D sites to achieve the organization's research and development objectives.
• Participating in the overall management of local enterprises as a member of the leadership team at the sites.
• Overseeing the department's financial resources and actively participating in proposals for capital investments and initiatives focused on enhancing, optimizing, and expanding local operations.

• Proven experience in process development and validation within the pharmaceutical sector. Experience in both API and FDF sectors will be desirable
• Leadership qualities and the ability to work both independently and as part of a management team
• Proactive problem-solving capabilities and project-planning skillls

• Bachelor and Master degrees in science or engineering, most preferably in chemistry or pharmacy; a Doctorate degree will be considered an asset.
