WT Continental in Malta is currently looking to recruit an R&D Lab Technician with Food Handling Certificate to join their team on a full-time basis.

Overview:

Do you have experience executing analytical testing within a food environment or sensory fields? The R & D department is searching for a Research Lab Techs. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Organizes samples by analysis type and priority then prepares and extracts samples for analysis
  • Analyzes samples by one or more approved methods of analysis 
  • Performs instrument and calibration checks on all laboratory equipment to ensure instruments are within specifications
  • Calculates and interprets results
  • Communicates with production, other lab personnel and management throughout the analysis to convey results or problems, to keep processes running smoothly
  • Prepares product samples for customers, collaborative studies, and for outside analytical service
  • Keeps accurate records and logs for all samples
  • Identifies and labels all samples
  • Logs all sample information into appropriate spreadsheets and ERP
  • Inputs sample information into appropriate database and spreadsheets
  • Assures that results are calculated correctly and conveyed to appropriate party
  • Maintains sample history by storing documents and spreadsheets safely, updates computer records, and creates new forms if necessary
  • Maintains and organizes storage of reference samples
  • Assists in generating reports for company management and customers
  • Follows Chemical Hygiene plan and all other safety guidelines
  • Uses proper laboratory techniques, safety apparel and GLP's when performing analyses
  • Ensures that glassware is properly cleaned and stored safely, and inventory on hand is adequate
  • Ensures that chemicals are returned to proper storage, restock short-term storage as needed and notify manager when laboratory supplies are in need to be ordered
  • Performs preventative maintenance on instrumentation as required and notify manager of any problems or peculiarities
  • Handles and disposes hazardous chemical waste properly
  • Updates folders and inventory
  • Provides analytical support for product development and product studies into new markets.

Qualifications: ( Education/Experience/Skills required of the Position)

  • Associates Degree in a related science field
  • Must have basic knowledge of laboratory techniques and proper handling of chemicals
  • Must possess good math, problem solving, computer and calculator skills, as well as good organization skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions from others
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

Bachelor's Degree in Science or Associates Degree and work experience in a lab setting.
