Food Chain Limited in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Quality Assurance and Waste Management Executive to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job Role:
A vacancy has arisen within Food Chain Limited reporting to the Business Manager of the company.
The executive will be responsible for coordinating and organising the Food Safety and Quality responsibilities for the three brands throughout all levels: Suppliers, Distribution and restaurant level.
The role involves working in close partnership with Chain and Operation Managers to ensure food safety, quality systems, packaging facility, and appropriate distribution and transportation of all orders.
The Executive will also be responsible for ensuring that all restaurants adhere to the company's waste management policy.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Support the Business Manager in the development and implementation of Food Safety and Quality Assurance strategy, goals and objectives for each brand
  • Process flow charts, document procedures and Quality Assurance Program for each brand
  • Monitor the performance of suppliers and ensure compliance with brand specifications
  • Drive, follow up and pursue corrective action plans with Franchise Managers on all critical issues
  • Ensure that brand specifications are in line with local regulatory and legal requirements
  • Manage specification updates ensuring all are complete and accurate and meet product design requirements
  • Provide quality assurance support to Franchise Managers to ensure restaurants adhere to approved key quality metrics of each brand
  • Together with Franchise Managers drive a food culture and waste management mentality throughout all restaurants and participate in the setup and delivery of employee workshops
  • Perform restaurant audits
  • Identify opportunities for product/process improvements and oversee supplier improvement projects accordingly to deliver improved product quality
  • Oversee and coordinate waste disposal, refuse collection and recycling activities across all restaurants in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner
  • Assist with the development, promotion and implementation of new waste disposal schemes
  • Monitor the quality and performance of waste services and pest control, including contract management of external providers
  • Collate statistics and compile reports.


Educational and skill requirements:

  • Ideally the candidate has obtained a Bachelor of Science in Food Science or a related specific field
  • Preferably have experience in the food industry
  • Be ICT literate and have good organisational and communication skills
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and a strong personal initiative
  • Have a strong application of principles, practice and procedures with an area of specialization.
