Inspire Foundation in Malta is looking to recruit a Head of Facilities to join their team on a full-time basis.

We do this by providing individuals and their families with educational, therapeutic and leisure services. We also advocate for inclusion, educate the public and raise awareness among peers.

General Scope and Purpose of Position:
The Head of Facilities will be responsible for the security, health and safety, maintenance, and upkeep of all Inspire Foundation’s premises, to ensure that they meet the needs of the organisation, its employees, and service users. With a solid understanding of electrical systems, plumbing, and technical background, the Head of Facilities will be well-versed in all maintenance processes and health and safety regulations. The Head of Facilities will also be required to undertake administrative tasks such as reporting and budgeting. 

They will also:

  • Ensure that all premises are kept in a good state of repair by scheduling preventive maintenance and coordinating repairs 
  • Design and implement strategic action plans in line with the Organizations’ vision and goals
  • Develop and implement the necessary systems and procedures that ensure operational excellence within the Organization 
  • Identify and prioritize major maintenance issues and initiate and develop action plans to resolve issues in order to achieve maximum productivity 
  • Manage and direct the maintenance and housekeeping units to achieve business objectives 
  • Managing projects conducted by both in-house and sub-contracted employees 
  • Ensuring that all maintenance operations are done in accordance with the organizations policy and OHSA guidelines 
  • Set, manage and define departmental KPIs  
  • Identify specialized maintenance work, hire sub-contractors, and sign off on service agreements
  • Manage Departmental budgets and enhance efficiency in all processes 
  • Manage the plant room, pool condition, and upkeeping, ensuring that it is kept in pristine working order, ensuring that preventive and other maintenance is carried out adequately 
  • Ensure that all equipment (eg. solar panels, lifts, tools, lifting equipment, etc) is constantly in an excellent state of repair, maintained up to required standards including all necessary supporting documentation 
  • Responsible for the infrastructure of the Organization’s telecommunications and internet as well as maintaining and monitoring efficiency and cost-effectiveness   
  • Ensure that housekeeping standards and SOPs are developed and maintained, including carrying out regular checks and ensuring that adequate records are kept consistently 
  • Responsible for the waste management system for all areas within Inspire’s facilities
  • Apply human resource management skills, such as hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating performance  
  • Manage the H&S function through compliance with all safety measures to ensure a safe environment for employees, service users, and other individuals 
  • Support the development of OHS policies and programs 
  • Liaise with H&S Consultant on risk assessments and enforce preventative measures 
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity  
  • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy 
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to Senior Management 
  • To be available to deal with emergencies outside normal working hours 
  • Undertake any other duties or responsibilities which may be allocated from time to time, within the general scope of the post and appropriate to the grade.  


Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial or a related Engineering field or equivalent work experience 
  • Have 3 + years of relevant experience combining technical and management experience 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability for decisions making under pressure 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent judgment, a strong sense of ethics and integrity, and result-oriented 
  • Excellent people skills maintain a positive attitude, and ability to motivate people 
  • Ability to adapt to operational changes 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and consistently changing environment 
  • Efficient at handling multiple priorities 
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.


*Prior to being recruited and throughout the duration of employment, the selected candidates need to satisfy the requirements of the Protection of Minors Act (POMA) together with those of immunisation.
