About the Department

The Investment Services Supervision Function is responsible for the authorisation and supervision of investment services licence holders and recognised persons, particularly investment firms, asset managers and collective investment schemes. Through its supervision, the function assesses compliance with prudential requirements stemming from European Directives and local legislation. It also examines the adequacy of systems and controls, governance arrangements, and risk management within licensed or notified entities under its remit. To support its supervisory work, the function actively participates in European Commission and European Supervisory Authorities’ committees and working groups, contributing to the development of policy and legislation within its scope.

About the Role

The candidate will be supporting the Policy and Legal Team within the Investment Services Supervision Function. Duties will include:

  • Contribute to the Policy and Legal Team's day-to-day workload to ensure that the respective goals are satisfactorily completed;
  • Keep up to date on developments relating to new legislation, amendments to existing rules etc, relating to investment and securities services and support Line Manager in the identificatin of those areas which require attention of ISS line management;
  • Handling the general administrative office duties, which mainly include secretarial and other support duties depending on the day-to-day exigencies;
  • Assisting and supporting the Policy and Legal Team within the Investment Services Supervision Function in carrying out transposition related work;
  • Undertaking ad-hoc assignments related to policy aspects that may arise from time to time and to report on the outcome of such assignments as may be appropriate and necessary;
  • Participation in workshops/meetings involving internal and external stakeholders as may be required;
  • Filing and record-keeping of documents;
  • Drafting documents and correspondence;
  • Undertaking any other duties as assigned by the Head and/or as may be required by the MFSA from time to time based on the exigencies of the Authority

About you

In order to be eligible for the role, the selected candidate must be in the process of obtaining a qualification in any relevant field at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.
