Kitchen Helper

HireHound Recruitment in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Kitchen Helper to join their client's team on a full-time basis.

Overview:

The Kitchen Helper assists kitchen staff in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. This role includes food preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, and supporting chefs with basic tasks. The ideal candidate is a team player who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen setting and is committed to upholding food safety and cleanliness standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation

• Wash, peel, and chop vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as needed.
• Prepare simple dishes, such as salads and appetisers, under the direction of the kitchen staff.
• Assist in setting up workstations and ingredients before meals.

2. Cleaning and Sanitising

• Wash and sanitise dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Clean kitchen equipment, surfaces, and appliances.
• Sweep and mop floors, remove trash, and keep the kitchen area tidy.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.

3. Assisting Chefs and Cooks

• Transport ingredients and supplies from storage areas to the kitchen.
• Help chefs with basic cooking tasks, such as mixing, portioning, and seasoning.
• Monitor inventory levels and notify the supervisor when supplies run low.

4. Other Duties

• Unload and store deliveries of food and supplies.
• Assist in maintaining stock and organising storage areas.
• Follow health and safety regulations to prevent accidents and food contamination.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or equivalent (preferred, but not required).
• Previous experience in a kitchen environment (preferred).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene practices.
• Team player with a positive attitude and good communication skills.
