HireHound Recruitment in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Housekeeping Supervisor to join their client's team on a full-time basis.

Position Summary:
The Housekeeping Supervisor position ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the housekeeping team. The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the housekeeping standards. These include guest service, cleaning and maintenance of rooms and corridors as well as pantries of the highest calibre by hotel standards. Assisting the Housekeeping Manager, the Housekeeping Supervisor executes daily inspections of all assigned areas whilst maintaining a cost-efficient operation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Keeps abreast of trends and innovations in housekeeping cleaning methods, techniques and supplies
  • Works closely with the Housekeeping Manager to continually improve housekeeping cleaning and service standards to ensure the highest level of consistent service standards delivery
  • Assists with periodic reviews of the rooms, corridors and pantry cleaning equipment and processes, identifies means of increasing quality, productivity and efficiency within the department
  • Assists in planning and controlling deep cleaning and maintenance schedules and ensures they are executed in a timely and efficient manner by the relevant parties
  • Helps the Housekeeping Manager to implement structured individual and team training programmes including succession, and team development
  • Supports communication to the team of realistic, measurable housekeeping standards, objectives and goals (service standards, budget targets etc.) to be achieved
  • Supervises all daily operations in allocated areas, including floors and public areas while maintaining high-quality standards to ensure a positive guest experience
  • Ensures that all daily tasks are completed accurately and promptly by contractors as well as the housekeeping team by the hotel standards
  • Ensures all pantries and equipment used are constantly maintained in a clean, neat and organised manner and that all equipment is in good working order
  • Participates in developing and implementing the necessary control measures for operating equipment and supplies to manage costs effectively
  • Ensures that high communication levels are maintained within the department as well as with other departments to proactively take action to the needs and changes in demand levels of the hotel operation
  • Implements training and coaching programmes for the housekeeping team to maintain the highest level of consistent service standards delivery
  • Establishes and ensures safe working conditions and practices are applied throughout the rooms and floors by the housekeeping team
  • Supports the promotion of CSR initiatives in the department
  • Ensures the Corinthia values and philosophy is implemented
  • Works with the housekeeping managers to implement a progressive, professional and committed team environment that supports the department’s strategic objectives
  • Interacts with employees and guests beyond giving and receiving instructions, emphasising relationships with supervisors, subordinates, co-workers and guests
  • Leads by example in setting positive relations with all hotel departments, ensuring issues are managed efficiently, and appropriately, thereby maintaining the smooth running of the operation at all times
  • Supports the philosophy of a “live and breathe quality” of all standards of the Hotel to the housekeeping team
  • Assists in producing results by encouraging high achievement within the team.

Health & Safety:

  • To be aware of and comply with safe working practices as stipulated by the Health and Safety Act and as applicable to your place of work. This will include the incumbent’s awareness of any specific hazards at the workplace
  • The wearing of appropriate protective clothing provided by or recommended by the Company will be obligatory
  • To ensure that any accidents to staff, guests or visitors are reported immediately by correct procedures
  • To attend statutory Fire, Health & Safety training and to be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning:
    • Fire, Health and Safety
    • Regulations, such as COHSS in the European Union, related to the control of substances hazardous to health
    • Risk Assessments for your department
    • Hotel Fire & Bomb Procedures.

  • As the level of business varies considerably, there is a need for flexibility in attitude, approach and working hours

Talent Profile
Experience:

  • Ideally a minimum of 2 years experience in the 5* hotel market as Floor Supervisor in a hotel of similar size.


Skills & Knowledge:

  • Fluent in written & spoken English 
  • Experience working various cleaning equipment, supplies and procedures 
  • Excellent attention to details 
  • Strong communication skills.


Education or Qualification:

  • Secondary school 
  • Vocational training centre desired.
