Tug Malta Limited is currently looking to recruit an HSEQ Coordinator to join their team on a full-time basis.

About us:
Established over 40 years ago, Tug Malta Limited, a company fully owned by Rimorchiatori Mediterranei Spa which today forms part of the MSC Group, provides towage services within the harbours and territorial waters of the Maltese islands.

With a fleet of 9 tugs, the Company is also engaged in offshore towage, salvage and wreck removal operations.

Job Role:
The Company has an immediate requirement to engage a Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards and ensure they are achieved both onboard the tugs and onshore
  • Maintain certifications of ISM, ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001
  • Maintain control of all the Tugs’ and Crews’ Certificates
  • Ensure that the Safety Equipment onboard tugs and in the workshop are up to date and in good condition
  • Assist the HSEQ Manager in carrying out internal audits for ISO standards, and ISM and coordinate with external auditors
  • Carry out safety inspections onboard tugs and shore facilities
  • Participate as a member of the Management Health and Safety Board
  • Conduct Risk Assessments of the various activities undertaken at the relevant workplaces
  • To maintain the medicine locker onboard offshore tug/s and to ensure that the first aid boxes are up to date onboard tugs and in other company workplaces.


The ideal candidate should ideally have at least 3 years experience in a marine-oriented industry preferably also with experience in HSEQ and should ideally further possess the following credentials:

  • STCW Officer or Engineer officer of the Watch Certificate
  • or an engineering degree in Mechanical/ Marine/ Electrical Engineering
  • Company Security Officer, Designated Person Ashore (DPA), ISO / ISM Auditor certificates
  • To have worked with the ISO standards. Previous experience of working with EMS & OH & SMS will be considered an asset
  • Strong organizational, and interpersonal skills and people management.
