The Planning Authority in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Mapping Technician to join their team on a full-time basis.

Overview:

The Planning Authority is committed to ensure that land use meet the needs of today’s society and future communities.

The Authority has a vacancy in the post of Mapping Technician, to assist in the provision of the necessary support services to senior technicians and professional officers in order to achieve objectives related to mapping at the Geomatics Unit, and to assist the coordination of the unit in implementing practices and procedures as required.

Duties and areas of responsibilities:

The job incumbent is expected to undertake the following duties amongst others:-

  • To assist in photogrammetric operations making use of satellite images, aerial photographs, light imaging detection and ranging (LIDAR) technology to build models of the Earth’s surface
  • To assist in data editing and enhancement to meet qualitative requirements
  • To assist in data administration, including security and consistency of data content according to established procedures
  • To assist in cartographic representation and product development as directed by his supervisor
  • To assist in quality control and field completion works
  • To assist in providing support for internal and external users of Mapping Unit data and products
  • Responsible for sales and customer service
  • May be required to carry out ancillary job-related duties to the above mentioned main
  • Responsibilities within the scope of normal flexibility.
