Role purpose and context:

We are therefore looking at hiring a talented individual as a Sustainability Analyst to champion the ESG agenda across our group. The role will allow the right person to build a career in a field that is expanding quickly. As ESG takes shape locally and worldwide, there will be opportunities for continual learning and growth. This is a full-time role.

Main Duties:

  • Assist in the ESG strategy development and implementation.
  • Oversee the implementation of ESG projects and assist in the delivery of such projects.
  • Analyse, assess and document the materiality of ESG data points vis-a-vis all our group business segments.
  • Set up a data management system to gather information, make comparatives and support ESG analysis for both reporting and business projects.
  • Communicate with the companies within the group for data collection and monitoring, and identification of potential ESG impacts, risks and opportunities.
  • Updating of ESG models in line with legal requirements.
  • Reporting under the CSRD, the EU Taxonomy, carbon accounting and any other future local and EU legislation.
  • Manage the consolidated ESG reporting and disclosures, and provide the necessary assurance.
  • Conducting technical research in support of ESG projects and proposals.
  • Be involved in market research, development of new products, feasibility analysis, related training materials, proposals, etc.
  • Supporting other departments with any third-party ESG-related paperwork and requests.
  • Monitor and evaluate whether group companies are adhering to the group’s ESG strategy, including ESG compliance and reporting.
  • Formulate recommendations for sustainable practices and strategies founded on data analysis with the aim of improving the group’s ESG performance.
  • Deliver ESG awareness training.
  • Attend ESG-related training when requested.
  • Participate in internal and external working groups linked to ESG data/model.
  • Stay updated on new national/EU proposals related to ESG regulations and industry sustainability trends.
  • Eager to take up the challenge of discovering and creating new materials to support colleagues and the group in its ESG journey.

Who we are looking for…

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following attributes:

  • Demonstrated passion and understanding of ESG and its requirements.
  • Knowledgeable on EU Taxonomy and CSRD, and eager to stay current on changes.
  • Familiarity with the European Green New Deal, the Malta Low Carbon Development Strategy, and the Paris Agreement, as well as its applications.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in environmental science (including biology, chemistry, and earth systems, amongst others), engineering, or related field, and/or a recognized qualification in ESG, sustainability, or similar.
  • Logical and detail-oriented.
  • Robust data analysis skills and comfortable with complex scientific/technical concepts.
  • Ability to interpret financial implications related to ESG programs.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Good with MS Office (including, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Good communication skills in English – including writing and presentation skills.
  • A team player.
  • Confident and able to engage with a variety of stakeholders across Tumas Group subsidiaries.
  • Pro-active, takes the initiative and resolute to achieve the required goals.
  • While not mandated, prior experience in sustainability, especially with ESG, is considered favourable.
