Operations & Husbandry Officer (Shipping)

We are currently seeking an Operations & Husbandry Officer for our client to join their team. This role provides an excellent opportunity to be part of Malta’s dynamic shipping and maritime industry, supporting day-to-day vessel operations and ensuring the smooth coordination of services within Malta’s ports and territorial waters. Full training will be provided to the selected candidate.

The successful candidate will be expected to form part of an operational on-call roster, providing support during vessel operations as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of vessel operations within Malta’s ports, ensuring smooth arrivals, port stays, and departures.
• Manage vessel husbandry requirements, providing logistical and operational support for vessels calling at port.
• Organise and coordinate bunkering operations for vessels.
• Maintain regular communication with shipping lines, particularly MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, to support efficient operations.
• Liaise with port terminals, service providers, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of services.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to vessel operations and husbandry services.
• Support the team in any other operational duties as required.

Requirements

• Excellent command in both Maltese AND English
• Previous experience in vessel husbandry, port terminal operations, or a similar operational role will be considered an asset.
• Minimum secondary level education.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Interest in shipping, maritime operations, and logistics.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to industry-specific software and systems.
