Foster Clark Products Ltd in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Factory Manager to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job Role:
The Factory Manager heads the Production of one of the Manufacturing Sites within our business operation. Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, the Factory Manager will be responsible for the daily operations of a manufacturing site and coordination with all stakeholders to achieve established KPIs with a commitment toward continuous improvement. He or she acts as a guiding figure within the Manufacturing Site, providing support and removing operational barriers, whilst holding individuals and teams accountable. The Factory Manager works closely with Supervisors to achieve operational excellence and acts as a liaison where appropriate between the production team and the rest of the organization. The Factory Manager possesses a good understanding of the technical, production, engineering and human aspects that compose a fast-paced manufacturing environment and have a major inter-departmental impact on the organisation.

Key Accountabilities:
Efficient and Lean Operation

  • Plan, organize, direct and execute daily operations in line with Company Policies, Procedures and KPIs - targeting to exceed customers’ expectations
  • Increase production efficiency, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing costs (such as labour overtime, repair costs and material waste) and maintaining high-quality standards
  • Responsible for establishing all shift production schedules in coordination with the Planning department and coordinating plant activities with other departments communicating regularly with Heads of Department and Senior Management
  • Focused Improvement of critical Filling Lines
    • Prepare, analyse and issue periodic production and performance reports
    • Management of administrative aspects of the Manufacturing Site and ensure that all administrative records are maintained correctly.

Customer Service

  • Responsible for on-time order completion whilst ensuring effective inventory management of raw material, packaging material and finished products
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and excellence that values learning and a commitment to quality and customer service whilst maintaining a positive community environment
  • Work closely with the Engineering Department on Continuous Improvement, new equipment commissioning and innovation projects.

Quality

  • Establish and direct plant SOPs in coordination with the other Site Managers of the Company to promote the expected level of standardization between sites whilst ensuring compliance with facility ISO standards, the HACCP system and all HSE guidelines
  • Lead focused improvement activities and coach teams to use data-collection, reporting and root-cause analysis to solve production issues and improve KPIs in alignment with company strategic initiatives
  • Work closely with the engineering teams to develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program
  • Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel targeting 5S standards.

People Development

  • Keep employees motivated and organise appropriate training to maximize personnel flexibility whilst conducting periodic employee performance reviews
  • Select and train plant supervisory and administrative staff whilst providing guidance and professional development to accomplish company goals and objectives.

Freedom to Act

  • Modification of practices and procedures while determining own priorities.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
Education

  • Master's level of education in Engineering, Science or a related field.

Experience

  • 10 years of production experience in a related role within a food or consumer products environment
  • Experience in leading others.

Technical Skills:

  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, cost accounting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
  • Experienced with GMP, ISO Standards, Safe Food Handling, HACCP practices and HSE guidelines
  • Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Continuous Improvement Experience/Certification is highly desirable
  • Ability to show a track record of improving production, solving problems, and motivating supervisors and line workers
  • Development of procedures
  • An adaptive thinking process is required to bring significant evaluative judgement and innovative thinking to analyse, evaluate and arrive at conclusions.
