About Banking Supervision:

The Banking Supervision Function at the MFSA is entrusted with the on-site and ongoing supervision of licensed banks and non-bank financial institutions (FIs) following authorization. The Function also carries out supervision of Significant Credit Institutions (SIs) together with the European Central Bank through the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM). The Banking Supervision Team is made up of officials with a banking and economics background, but also legal, accounting and IT professionals to support policy and supervisory work.

The Role:
As an Administrative Assistant within the Data Team the selected candidate will be undertaking the following duties:
  • Daily management of supervisory and other statutory reporting of licensed institutions, including assessment of punctuality, completeness, and data quality
  • Generation of reports
  • Communicating and coordinating within Banking Supervision and with other MFSA departments, as may be required
  • Managing correspondence and liaising with external stakeholders, including but not limited to Central Bank of Malta, European Central Bank, and European Banking Authority
  • Attending and participating as may be required in local and overseas training, meetings, and working groups particularly those relating to the EBA, ECB, ESRB and BIS, and other European regulatory bodies
  • Managing data-related exercises and liaising with Data Team members as necessary
  • Assist in the implementation of projects undertaken by the Data team
  • Administrative tasks supporting general office management including managing filing systems, maintaining email distribution lists, travel, and transport bookings, managing incoming and outgoing mail, archiving, managing attendance records and timesheets, assisting the function's management team in the department's budget, processing invoices, and other general office duties, maintaining the department's organogram and coordinate desk allocations.
  • Handling police and court notifications
  • Other duties as may be required from time to time

About You:
We are looking for a candidate with a relevant academic background in Banking & Finance or Accountancy or Economics or Statistics and/or in another financial service-related subject. The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 5 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level. It is essential that you have proven organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, and to work on own initiative, with an eye for detail. You also need to have good communication and writing skills. Competence in MS Excel and experience in a quantitative environment will be considered an asset. Candidates with proven work experience relevant to the role will be preferred. If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least three (3) years of relevant experience within the financial services sector, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
