Atlas Language School in Malta is currently looking to recruit an Accommodation Officer to join their team on a full-time basis.

We are currently seeking an Accommodation Officer to join our school in Pembroke, Malta on a full-time basis, who can start in October 2024.

The Accommodation Officer will supervise and monitor the cleaning of the residence and have responsibility for the supervision of the students in our accommodation in Malta, also assisting with reservations, student placement, check-ins and check-outs, and additional student support services. The Accommodation Officer will also assist the Accommodation Manager with the Atlas interns.

The role also involves dealing with the day-to-day maintenance in the apartments, like fixing items that are damaged or broken; any items we cannot fix ourselves will have to be escalated to the landlords and then will involve liaising with the technicians to solve issues. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and expanding company in the language and travel sector. The role would suit someone who has strong interpersonal skills, is organised, hard-working, and good at problem-solving.

The position requires weekend work - the standard working week is 40 hours, from Thursday to Monday. The weekend hours are irregular as it depends on the check-ins and check-outs.

The schedule is usually Thursday, Friday and Monday, from 08:15 to 17:15. The remaining 16 hours will be flexible, covering Saturday, Sunday, and then Thursday, Friday and Monday evenings during the week. The officer would be off on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Accommodation Officer Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the weekend check-in and check-out processes for students at the school and supervising the work and duties of the interns during this process
  • Arranging linen and laundry collection from the school for the weekend and after-hours check-ins
  • Overseeing airport transfers for arrivals and departures over the weekend and liaising with the transport company to manage any problems
  • Investigating any urgent accommodation issues/complaints and dealing with them appropriately
  • Reporting any accommodation issues to the Accommodation Manager for action
  • Overseeing service providers, such as handymen, broadband companies, or others for required fixes, upkeep and maintenance of student accommodation
  • Overseeing, monitoring, and spot-checking cleaning services. Supervising and monitoring all the cleaning schedules in the apartments
  • Handling after-hours and emergency calls related to accommodation, transport, and check-ins.
  • Assisting in additional tasks as assigned by the Accommodation Manager.

  • You have the ability to work under pressure
  • You require little supervision and are capable of working relatively independently on weekends and after hours.

It is essential that the candidate has their own vehicle and a full clean driving licence. Fixed mileage allowance per kilometre reimbursed by employer.

24 days of annual leave plus public holidays falling on weekends; sick pay and public holidays in accordance with Maltese law. Starting salary €22000.
