Role Overview

Our Client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Financial Analyst to join its Global Finance Operations team based in Malta. This role will support the delivery of robust financial controls, oversee the quality of outsourced finance activities, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance reporting accuracy, streamline processes, and drive continuous improvements within the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reconciliations: Manage and review balance sheet reconciliations within assigned areas, ensuring outstanding items are appropriately monitored, investigated, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • BPO Coordination and Oversight: Act as a key liaison with the outsourced finance provider, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and aligns with internal financial requirements.
  • Financial Reporting Review: Assess journals, reconciliations, schedules, and period-end reporting packages for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to reporting timelines.
  • Process Enhancement: Identify recurring financial issues, collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement sustainable improvements, and support the optimisation of finance processes through effective use of technology.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with treasury teams, outsourced finance partners, and business departments to support efficient accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or another relevant discipline is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years’ experience within finance operations, accounting, or a related financial role. Previous exposure to shared service environments or complex matrix organisations would be considered advantageous.
  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential. Knowledge of an additional European language would be considered a strong asset.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to present financial information clearly, engage with multiple stakeholders, and maintain effective working relationships across different functions and locations.
  • Interpersonal Skills: A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, external providers, and key business contacts.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of month-end financial processes, balance sheet reconciliations, accounting controls, and experience working with ERP platforms and finance systems.
  • Organisation: Excellent attention to detail, strong planning abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Self-Motivated: A proactive individual with a continuous improvement mindset and a genuine interest in enhancing financial procedures and operational efficiency.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify underlying causes of issues and develop practical, long-term solutions.
