Junior Accountant

Job Description
Retail International Group in Malta is looking to recruit a Junior Accountant to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job role:
The main responsibility of this role is to fulfill an assistance function to the Group Financial Controller in order to accomplish deliverables in a timely manner.

Main responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and other internal financial reports.
• Assistance in the preparation of Business Plans and cash flows.
• Compiling various data and information that will be relevant to take necessary business decisions.
• Preparation of Statutory Returns for example VAT returns.
• Manage the process of Selling Prices preparation and Margin analysis. This includes as well an ongoing review of the receipts and costings.
• Liaise with external auditors including compiling pre-audit documents, submitting audit deliverables, and carrying out necessary follow-ups.
• Reviewing of the statutory financial statements.
• Supervised operating overheads.  
• Assist in the preparation of Budgets and forecasts.
• Other ad-hoc deliverables as required from time to time.

Requirements:

• Have solid knowledge of accounting procedures and practices.
• Possess a high knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Have general knowledge of financial reporting and accounting standards and regulations.
• Be highly accurate, and organized and apply a meticulous style within the work tasks assigned.
• Be able to develop good working relationships with colleagues.
• Have problem-solving and decision-making skills.
•  Be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Even though it is not compulsory, a relative qualification in Accountancy would be considered an Asset.
• The ideal candidate shall have a minimum of two years of work experience in a similar role and a good knowledge of the retail industry will be preferred.
