Our client, is looking for a Direct Tax Advisory Officer to join their team. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting corporate clients (both local and international) with tax advisory assignments including but not limited to some compliance matters which require technical assistance.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in relation to tax implementation strategies to optimise clients’ direct tax affairs.
  • Assisting with the drafting of complex corporate tax returns of local and international tax clients.
  • Interpret and apply changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the organisation remains compliant and up to date.
  • Keeping up to date with direct tax developments.
  • Hands on interaction with clients and other departments to assist in the preparation of tax computation, technical questions and other direct tax related matters.
  • Assisting in restructuring assignments including but not limited to share transfers, share allotment, corporate restructuring, financing, domestic mergers and acquisitions, and other types of transactions.
  • Set clear goals, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback and guidance to team members.
  • Working with the Head of Direct Tax on the technical aspects of the team’s work including drafting/reviewing procedures for the department.
  • The selected candidate will be reporting to the Head of Direct Tax & Corporate Services. 

Requirements:

  • Must have at least 3-years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of the CFR tax system/excel and the Maltese Income Tax System.
  • Be in possession of a university degree in Accountancy or completed the ACCA qualification (or equivalent). Other qualifications such as MIT, ADIT etc, will be considered a strong asset.
  • Be a good team player with effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn, proactive, flexible and committed.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in English both written and spoken (knowledge of Maltese and Italian would be considered an asset)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential.
