Role Overview
The Company is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to oversee a varied client portfolio spanning sectors such as gaming, fintech, and other commercial industries. The role focuses on delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, and providing reliable accounting support that contributes to the ongoing development of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Portfolio Management: Oversee a diverse range of client entities, ensuring all accounting outputs are delivered accurately and within required timelines.
  • Bookkeeping & Reconciliations: Maintain up-to-date accounting records, including routine bookkeeping tasks and reconciliation of bank, intercompany, and balance sheet control accounts.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare periodic management accounts, including supporting analyses and reconciliations on a monthly or quarterly basis as required.
  • Year-End & Compliance Support: Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements and ensure compliance with relevant accounting frameworks and reporting standards.
  • Client & Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a key contact for client finance matters while coordinating with auditors, tax professionals, financial institutions, and other external parties when needed.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

  • Education: A professional accounting qualification or near completion of ACCA (or equivalent certification).
  • Experience: At least 3 years in an accounting environment, including exposure to client-facing or corporate finance roles of at least 12 months.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to present financial information clearly and respond effectively to client queries and stakeholder requests.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building capabilities with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams and external contacts.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of VAT regulations, tax compliance obligations, and familiarity with accounting systems such as Xero, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Organisation: Strong ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain structured financial records.
  • Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and the ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives.
  • Problem-Solving: Able to identify discrepancies or risks in financial data and propose practical solutions in a timely manner.
