Mobile Apps - Architect

Betsson Group is now looking for an Architect within the Mobile Apps Area who will be based in Malta.

We are seeking an experienced Architect to join our architecture team, with a focus on native application development for iOS and Android platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, efficient, and robust solutions for our mobile applications. You will play a critical role in driving our mobile strategy, ensuring the delivery of high-quality apps that meet our customers' needs.

You will make yourself available to the whole Group and support all teams when architectural guidance is needed – this could include joining daily stands up of different teams. You will work very closely with our Software Engineers and Product Managers – ensuring we are prioritizing the correct items for both short- and long-term initiatives. Your focus will be on our mobile native solutions but you will be expected to understand how your part fits in the global Betsson domain and find synergies with other areas. Aside from embodying the ‘One Betsson’ value, you will also work very closely with most if not all Area Architects, Tech Leads and Team Leads.

• Design and Architecture: Develop comprehensive architectural solutions for iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) platforms. Ensure that the mobile architecture aligns with the overall enterprise architecture strategy. 
• Collaboration and Leadership: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, UX/UI designers, and developers, to create effective and innovative mobile solutions. Lead the mobile architecture discussions and decisions. 
• Technical Expertise: Stay abreast of the latest developments in mobile technology. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mobile development teams in Swift and Kotlin. 
• Performance Optimization: Optimize mobile applications for maximum speed and scalability. Address any technical issues related to performance bottlenecks. 
• Quality Assurance: Oversee the quality of the development process. 
• Ensuring that all initiatives are aligned with the overall technical vision 
• Supporting People Leads, Development Teams and Product Managers on technical route(s) to take 
• Supporting Product Managers to ensure we have the right priorities in the backlog and roadmap for each initiative 
• Part of the decision making with key stakeholders 
• Participate in workshops/exercises/brainstorming/presentations/knowledge-transfer sessions with the rest of the architecture team and other parties 
• Participate in pre-solution work for new initiatives to outline high level solutions 
• Participate in design reviews to ensure all solutions adhere to established guidelines 
• Identification of refactoring activities needed to address technical debt, performance, scalability, availability, reliability and security 
• Support development teams and product owners make sure we have relevant NFR’s defined (KPI’s) 
• Contribute to formalizing architecture governance principals across the company by establishing guidelines around integration patterns, data storage, orchestration, messaging and other concerns 
• Supporting the development teams when dealing with architectural decisions, designs and high incidents 

• Evidence of experience working on large scale/high load platforms 
• Proven experience as a Solutions Architect or in a similar role, with a strong focus on iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) applications. 
• Deep understanding of mobile architecture, design patterns, and mobile ecosystems. 
• Experience with APIs and mobile backend integration. 
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically. 
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar role 
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
• Fluent communication in English
