Environment Resources Authority in Malta is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Officer (ICT) to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job details:

The assistant officer (ICT) shall assist the Authority in ICT/IS projects and their implementation and will be responsible for the up keeping and security of all ICT operations with the assistance and the direction of the line superior. The officer will also serve as a bridge between ICT, special information systems, assistance to the data capture and other thematic functions within the authority. The officer shall also act as a focal point for a number of crosscutting projects dealing with ICT/IS.

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest ICT/IS based systems and provide guidance and technical support during all phases of ICT/IS development
  • To follow industry best practices and technological trends and make appropriate recommendations for improvements to the Authority ICT / IS based systems
  • Analyze and identify ICT system limitations and provide suggestions for any possible improvements
  • Assist and analyze the ICT/IS demands and draw up requirements leading to the procurement of hardware, software or ICT services in accordance with the Authority procurement procedures
  • Conduct scheduled ICT/IS quality audits and any necessary system evaluations in terms of updates and revisions
  • Maintain the necessary software version controls and provide for all the required software adjustments
  • Raise applications and keep documentation related to ICT/IS user setups, maintenance and amendments
  • Assist in the creation, planning, setup, implementation and continual maintenance and review of the business continuity plan and ICT disaster recovery plans for the organization's demand for continuous ICT services
  • Assist in the analysis and design of effective and secure ICT solutions and related technologies
  • Serve as mentor to other colleagues, and present ICT sessions and meetings to other officers as required
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed ICT/IS designs for development
  • Assist in the management of ICT/IS projects and any other parameters listed in the ICT/IS strategy
  • Identify and resolve any ICT/IS issues in a timely fashion in order to effectively minimize any operations downtime
  • Coordinate with service providers any system installation, upgrading, testing and monitoring
  • Assist in the monitoring and analysis of the ICT/IS activity, making necessary amendments and raise recommendations when the ICT/IS performance is affected
  • Ensure the appropriate ICT systems/solutions, procedures and security measures are in place and correctly implemented; and
  • Provide technical support and ensure the ongoing efficient, secure, and reliable ICT operations.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (MQF Level 6) with a minimum total of 180 ECTS credits in any one of the following: Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Information Systems or comparable qualification as recognized by MFHEA
  • Alternatively in case of no first degree, a Master’s degree (MQF Level 7) with a minimum total of 90 ECTS credits in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Information Systems or comparable qualifications as recognized by MFHEA; AND
  • Broad knowledge of information technology, with a firm understanding of related disciplines including SQL databases and GIS products and processes.

All foreign non-Maltese qualifications which are not accompanied by an evaluation from MFHEA will not be taken into consideration.
