Job Summary
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating the dispatch and receipt of goods, preparing shipping documentation, tracking deliveries, and ensuring that all shipments are processed accurately and efficiently. The role involves liaising with suppliers, transport providers, freight forwarders, and internal departments to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and products.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare shipping documentation, including delivery notes, packing lists, invoices, and transport documents.
• Coordinate domestic and international shipments with transport companies and freight forwarders.
• Schedule collections and deliveries to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods.
• Track shipments and provide updates to internal departments and customers.
• Verify shipment details, quantities, and documentation for accuracy.
• Liaise with suppliers, customers, freight agents, and customs brokers where applicable.
• Resolve shipping discrepancies, delays, or damaged deliveries.
• Maintain accurate shipping records and update the company's ERP or inventory management system.
• Coordinate with the Purchasing and Stores departments to ensure goods are available for dispatch.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, shipping regulations, and health and safety requirements.
• Assist with inventory reconciliation and stock movement records when required.
• Prepare regular reports on shipping activities and delivery performance.
• Perform other logistics and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
• Previous experience in shipping, logistics, transport coordination, or administration is preferred.
• Knowledge of shipping documentation and freight procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
