Our client is an established aviation related company that has a base in Malta but also has operations in a number of other countries. They would like to employ an Assistant Director of Materials & Logistics(Aircraft Spare Parts). You will reporting directly into the COO

The Role

  • You will manage the department and ensure that procurement, inventory management and distribution are all handled within SOP's and KPI's
  • You will collaborate with international suppliers to secure a reliable and cost-effective source of high-quality spare parts
  • You will negotiate contracts, establish pricing agreements, and maintain strong supplier relationships
  • With the help of your team, develop and issue contract tenders and negotiate suitable contracts with relevant third-party organizations to ensure effectiveness
  • You will also handle the Inventory Management mainly by forecasting techniques to ensure optimal stock levels while minimizing excess inventory
  • You will ensure strict compliance with regulatory requirements for the storage and handling of spare parts
  • As the Assistant Director you will also manage the Distribution and Logistics section of the unit. This will include the efficient distribution of spare parts to maintenance facilities and aircraft stations, optimisation of logistics and transportation strategies to minimize lead times and reduce costs
  • In your capacity you will develop an effective network of part suppliers, brokers, repair organizations, and logistics
  • Your department will ensure Quality Assurance and Compliance: Establish and enforce quality control standards for all spare parts. You will ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and airworthiness directives
  • You develop department standards and procedures to meet aviation regulations, SLA requirements, and KPIs
  • You will lead a strong medium sized team that are handling spare parts
  • You will be responsible for the strategy of your department and the also the Risk Management framework
  • You will develop and manage the departmental budget, ensuring cost-effective operations whilst developing and managing KPIs with a cost-controlling approach
  • You will approve payment for purchase and repairing invoices. in addition, implement and monitor finance and administration policies and procedures within the department
  • You will support costing of work plans and analyse spend against forecasts
Requirements
  • Extensive direct experience in spare parts management, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role within the aviation industry
  • Proven track record of optimising supply chain operations and achieving cost savings
  • Have excellent leadership skills
  • Have an excellent understanding of the aviation industry
  • Have strong understanding of the inventory management software and data analytics tools.
  • Have excellent leadership skills
  • You will be prepared to travel regularly
Education and Experience
  • Education Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field
