General Scope and Purpose of Position

We are currently looking for a Tutor on a Part-Time basis to join our service programmes offered at Inspire Foundation. Our Tutors shall be responsible to ensure the effective planning and implementation of individual/group sessions and activities according to set standards and criteria both individually and in a group setting. 

They shall work within a multi-disciplinary setting and will be responsible to ensure good practice, liaising with school professionals and parents on a regular basis and consistently reporting on children’s progress through the use of standard tools.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a good quality service delivery; working towards and implementing best practice methods depending on the client group, including, but not limited to the TEACCH method and SPELL framework;
  • Work towards and implement best practice methods that meet NAS Accreditation and ISO certification standards where applicable;
  • Address parents’ concerns through appropriate methods of feedback, and to seek advice when necessary;
  • Provide feedback to parents after the delivery of session/intervention informing them of their child’s performance in relation to the objectives being worked on and passing on any resources/recommendations to ensure continuity of care across all settings;
  • Administer assessments to clients and the development of goals;
  • Prepare reports and participate in annual reviews for allocated clients;
  • Develop ‘positive behavior support plans’ where applicable and ensure the dissemination of these documents to all relevant stakeholders;
  • Maintain upkeep of the clients’ files whilst ensuring that any other forms such as student profiles, weekly and monthly planning sheets, data collection regarding clients’ performance, client attendances, etc. are completed in a timely manner;
  • Monitor sessions as part of the ongoing evaluation of the clients’ progress;
  • Prepare equipment/materials/resources and the delivery of individual sessions;
  • Assist colleagues in the preparation for extra-curricular activities and follow recommendations to limit any possible risks;
  • Follow the roster pertaining to the tidying up of the environment, where applicable;
  • Carry out supervision of transport when required;
  • Attend school visits and maintain documentation regarding school visits, IEPs and MAPS sessions where and as needed;
  • Stay updated with the curriculum being followed at school and make this accessible to the clients;
  • Actively participate in all sessions carried out in different environments including the Multisensory Rooms, the pool, the Therapeutic Horseback Riding area amongst others;
  • Work closely with other stakeholders, which might include LSEs, Teachers, INCO’s and others who are involved in developing/implementing action plans for clients and to ensure that there is a helpful and optimal environment that is autism-friendly and reduces barriers to inclusion;
  • Consistently provide and share information within the team regarding clients’ goals.

Qualification Requirements:

The ideal candidate should be in possession of the following:

  • MQF Level 6 qualification/Degree in psychology, occupational therapy, disability studies or in a related field such as social sciences;
  • Excellent organization and communication skills;
  • Proficiency in English & Maltese languages (both spoken and written);
  • Previous experience working with children or people with a disability [particularly challenging behavior and Autism Spectrum Disorder] would be considered as an advantage.

Prior to being recruited and throughout the duration of employment, the selected candidates need to satisfy the requirements of the Protection of Minors Act (POMA) together with those of immunisation.
