Inspire Foundation in Malta is currently looking to recruit Tutors to join their team on a part-time basis.

General Scope and Purpose of Position:
We are currently looking for Part-time Tutors on a part-time basis (20 hours per week) to join our STEP Forward Programme. The chosen candidate shall be responsible for the effective planning and implementation of individual/group sessions and activities according to set standards and criteria. They shall work closely with the STEP Unit Manager, Team Leaders, therapists, and other tutors to ensure good practice in the service the department provides.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To work collaboratively with other tutors and therapists in the case of organizing and executing external events
  • Must work alongside other members of the team in taking responsibility for carrying out activities as indicated in the Individualised Family Service Plan (IFSP) concerning the future goals and possibilities of students within the STEP Intensive Early Intervention Programme
  • Liaise with other professionals within the team to offer a truly multidisciplinary service to the client. This includes consultations with professional therapists
  • To attend any courses/conferences and training programmes (local/abroad), that the Inspire management considers, as necessary for staff development and for the provision of better specialized early intervention support to the clients. This includes but is not limited to, attending joint sessions with therapists at Inspire or elsewhere
  • To address parents' concerns through appropriate methods of feedback, and to seek advice when necessary
  • To respect confidentiality in all matters relating to the clients, their families and members of staff
  • To perform any other duties that may be assigned as requested by the management in response to the exigencies of the service
  • Administer assessments to clients and the development of goals
  • To prepare a report and participate in annual reviews for allocated clients
  • To carry out risk assessments and develop positive behaviour support plans where applicable and ensure the dissemination of these documents to all relevant stakeholders
  • Monitoring the sessions as part of the ongoing evaluation of the client's progress
  • Facilitate the organization of forms (such as student profiles, weekly and monthly planning sheets, data collection regarding clients’ performance, client attendance, etc.)
  • The upkeep of clients’ files
  • Reporting any incident or injury within the programme
  • Assisting other staff when preparing for extracurriculars and requesting a pre-visit risk assessment by the IEI Team Leaders
  • Follow the roster pertaining to the tidying up of the environment
  • Be part of the planning of activities for parents/guardians to make them feel that they are an important part of their child’s programme
  • Contributing feedback regarding possible improvements in service delivery to senior staff (related to clients, groups, programmes, etc.)
  • Brainstorming with other members of staff and discussing ideas for improvement of the service and delivery of the programme
  • Ensures good quality of the overall programme – working towards and implementing best practice methods, including the TEACCH approach and SPELL framework
  • Prepare all necessary equipment/materials required as part of the delivery of individual sessions
  • To provide support and assistance addressing personal care needs such as nappy changing, toileting and hygiene procedures according to Inspire’s Policy in relation to Personal and Intimate Care
  • To support school personnel in terms of promoting a helpful and optimal environment that is autism-friendly and reduces barriers to inclusion
  • To attend school visits and maintain documentation regarding school visits, IEPs and MAPS sessions where and as needed.


Qualification Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • MQF Level 6 (Degree) or equivalent degree in a Social Science or in Education
  • Previous experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)/ clients or school environment will be considered as an advantage
  • Excellent organization skills and time management
  • Proficiency in the Maltese/English language will be considered an asset.


Prior to being recruited and throughout the duration of employment, the selected candidates need to satisfy the requirements of the Protection of Minors Act (POMA) together with those of immunisation.
