Painter and Blaster (MSV-MLT-JUNE-005)

Job Description
Medserv Operations Ltd in Malta is looking to recruit a Painter and Blaster to join their team on a full-time basis. 

Summary of Position:
The painter and blaster will perform work on equipment, structures, facility client-related work as well as projects for protection, corrosion, and refurbishment. The position will also be required to maintain, mix, and have a thorough knowledge of paint and other coating material so that to ensure the equipment or structure is painted and protected as per contract or specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Able to work in confined spaces, such as fuel tanks or ship ballast tanks.
• Able to work at heights using scaffolding and /or Skyclimber with all necessary PPE provided.
• Able to distinguish, ISO blast profiles such as SA(2), SA(2.5), and SA(3).
• Be conversant with high-performance coatings, such as Pot life, Wet Film Thickness, (WFT) Dry film thickness (DFT) Overcoating Intervals.
• Stage parts and welded assemblies for blasting, painting, and assembly processes.
• Preparing and setup up necessary tools and equipment for blasting and painting processes.
• Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements and review finished assemblies, parts, and products to quality requirements.
• Report production issues and assist in resolutions as required.
• Removes rust from metal surfaces with blasting material/mixture.
• Able to spray and paint using, Brush, Roller, Conventional Spray, and Airless Spray and troubleshoot any problems occurring during spraying operations, such as clogging of the spray tip.
• Perform all work within health and safety procedures instructed by Health and Safety Manager and Technical Manager.
• Contributes to team effort by maintaining ongoing communications with other departments, and fellow personnel. Support in other tasks/ operations within the department and constantly collaborating with other team members within the organisation.
• Perform other tasks as may be required by the Team Leader and/or Technical Manager
• Operating other production equipment and performing tasks necessary to complete products to engineering specifications and quality requirements.

 
Experience & Education Requirements:

• MQF Level 2 of education or higher
• Knowledge of written and spoken Maltese & English.
• Driving licenses:
• Experienced with UHP machines.
• Proven basic administrative knowledge and skills.

Skills Requirements:
 ESSENTIAL:

• Minimum 3 years experience in a similar position;
• Good Communication Skills in English and Maltese. Italian language skills will be seen as an asset.
• Ideally in possession of a Blaster Painter’s certificate or similar concerning abrasive blasting and spray-painting Ex. ICATS
• Skill in operating shop tools and machines.

DESIRED:

•    + 3 experience offshore or in a dry-docking repair facility.
