Electrician

HireHound Recruitment in Malta is currently looking to recruit an Electrician n to join their client's team on a full-time basis. 

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrician. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, wiring, and testing of electrical systems and components. Your work will include setting up cable management systems, installing conduit, wiring various circuits, and ensuring all electrical installations meet safety and performance standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems and the ability to read and interpret wiring schematics.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cable Management & Installation

• Install brackets for cable trunking and cable trays, ensuring secure and stable mounting.
• Install cable ladders, cable trays, cable baskets, and cable trunking to organize and support electrical cables.
• Install both metal and plastic trunking systems to protect and route electrical wiring.
• Mark out and install conduits, including both PVC and metal types, according to project specifications.

2. Trenching for Conduit

• Chase trenches as needed for the installation of conduit in walls or floors.

3. Wiring & Electrical Connections

• Wire basic power and lighting circuits, including radial and ring circuits, based on electrical drawings.
• Wire circuitry involving PIRs (Passive Infrared Sensors), contractors, relays, dimming ballasts, dimmer packs, and similar components.

4. Consumer Units and Distribution Boards

• Mount and install consumer units and distribution boards.
• Terminate cables in consumer units and distribution boards.

5. Power Accessories

• Terminate cables in socket outlets, fused connection units, and similar power accessories.

6. Control Panels

• Terminate control cables in control panels, contactors, relays, and other related equipment.

7. Testing & Commissioning

• Test socket outlets for polarity, continuity, and insulation to ensure proper functionality.
• Test Residual Current Devices (RCDs) and verify voltage presence.
• Install copper tape and earth electrodes as required for grounding and safety.

8. Cable Handling & Installation

• Plan and pull all types of single and multicore cables to specified locations.
• Perform termination and glanding of single and multicore cables, including for single and three-phase pumps and motors.
• Install free-standing switchboards, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), change-over panels, and power factor units.

9. Reading Schematics

• Read and interpret electrical wiring schematics used during installation to ensure accurate and efficient wiring.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an electrician with a strong understanding of electrical systems and wiring techniques.
• Proficiency in installing and managing cable trays, conduit, and various cable types.
• Skilled in wiring power and lighting circuits, as well as more complex electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of safety standards and practices in electrical installation.
• Relevant electrical certifications and licenses are preferred.
