Research & Development Scientist

Our client is looking for a Research & Development Scientist to join their growing team. 

Responsibilities:

• Conduct literature research and propose new ideas to improve existing features.
• Lead innovation projects and validate new products on commercial equipment.
• Collaborate with global counterparts and ensure product design requirements and deadlines are met.
• Document data thoroughly and guide the project team on next steps.
• Travel for training and technology transfer.
• Understand capabilities and issues to identify potential for innovation.
• Record process improvements and product innovations to build an innovation funnel.
• Propose and support adoption of innovation ideas by senior leadership.
• Implement innovation projects to enhance the company's competitive edge.
• Collaborate with product development to develop robust processes for multiple substrates.
• Work with suppliers to master equipment operation and troubleshooting.
• Assist with key product tests during scale-up as needed.
• Ensure raw materials and alternative threads run through the process at high yields.
• Lead investigations and implement processes to reduce future risks.
• Maintain standard operating procedures for all machine processes.
• Ensure preparations are complete before scientist visits.
• Keep Project Manager informed during scale-up trials.
• Conduct trials according to the Project Manager's plan.
• Update other sites on trial progress through regular calls.
• Learn third-party equipment differences to aid collaboration.
• Train partners on new company products to ensure collaborators are comfortable with the products.

• Minimum of 3 years experience in Research & Development.
• Strong project management skills demonstrating the ability to push projects over the finish line with sound planning and persistent execution.
• Innovative mindset to identify potential opportunities to utilize existing equipment to enhance product or process capabilities.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Strong inclination to work with 3rd parties to ensure products scale up well in their operations
• Strong communication skills: both verbal and in writing.

• Bachelor’s in Engineering, Science or related discipline.
• Relevant experience in manufacturing or production with a focus on Research & Development.
• Experience in new product development within a manufacturing setting.
