Head of Food Production

Good Earth and Da Vinci Bakery are looking for an experienced Head of Food Production to oversee and optimise our food production operations. If you have a keen eye for quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

As the Head of Food Production, you will be responsible for managing and improving all aspects of production at Good Earth and Da Vinci Bakery. You will lead teams, ensure adherence to quality and safety standards, and drive operational excellence. Reporting to the CEO and General Manager, you will oversee the Production Managers at both locations and implement strategies to enhance production processes, product development, and cost-effectiveness.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Overseeing and streamlining food production at Da Vinci Bakery and Good Earth packing operations.
• Ensuring compliance with HACCP, food safety, and hygiene regulations.
• Working closely with the Quality Assurance team to maintain top-quality standards.
• Optimising workflows to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
• Leading efforts to obtain and maintain industry certifications (ISO, BRC).
• Developing and implementing SOPs to standardize production processes.
• Mentoring and managing the Production teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with suppliers to ensure a smooth supply chain.
• Identifying cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
• Leading product development initiatives and innovate packaging solutions.
• Ensuring proper maintenance and investment in production machinery.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A recognised qualification in Food Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• A minimum 5 years of experience in a production management role within the food industry.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, ISO, and other relevant food safety standards.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop teams.
• Proficiency in production planning, problem-solving, and strategic thinking.
• Strong data analysis skills to drive performance improvements.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; proficiency in Maltese is an asset.
• Computer proficiency.
