Job Title: SEO Specialist

Role Description

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in optimizing our platform's presence on Google SERPs by identifying high-traffic keywords, implementing effective strategies to improve search engine rankings and write search engine optimised content for our portal on behalf of our clients. 

Role Responsibilities

• Conduct keyword research to identify high-value and relevant keywords related to local search in Malta.

• Develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies to improve the platform's visibility and ranking on Google SERPs.

• Optimize website content, meta tags, and other on-page elements to enhance search engine performance.

• Monitor and analyse website traffic, keyword rankings, and other relevant metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.

• Stay updated on industry trends, search engine algorithms, and best practices in SEO to maintain a competitive edge.

• Collaborate with the content, development, and marketing teams to implement SEO best practices and drive organic traffic growth.

• Provide regular reports and insights on SEO performance, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

Attitude & Attributes

• Proven experience as an SEO Specialist or similar role, with a track record of improving search engine rankings and driving organic traffic.

• In-depth knowledge of search engine algorithms, keyword research tools, and SEO best practices.

• Content writing skills for writing content about various industries leading to optimal search engine performance.

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make informed decisions and recommendations.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Proficiency in SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, or similar platforms.

• Creative problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing SEO challenges.

• A passion for staying updated on industry trends and continuously learning and evolving in the field of SEO.

• A certification in SEO is considered an asset.

First 30-days

• Onboarding and Training: You'll spend time getting acquainted with the company's culture, processes, and tools. You'll undergo training on the specific features of the local search platform and its target audience.

• Understanding the Platform: You'll dive deep into understanding the local search platform's functionalities, including how listings are managed, how users interact with the platform, and any unique features that set it apart from competitors.

• Initial Analysis: You'll begin conducting initial audits and analyses of the platform's current SEO performance. This may involve assessing keyword rankings, traffic trends, backlink profiles, and technical SEO issues.

• Research: You'll start researching the local search landscape, identifying key competitors, analysing their strategies, and uncovering opportunities for improvement.

• Strategy Development: Based on your analyses, you'll start outlining preliminary SEO strategies tailored to improve the platform's visibility and rankings in local search results.

• Content Writing: You'll work on writing content for various industries featuring on our platform with the aim of improving the platform’s traffic and visibility whilst driving traffic to the different landing pages.

60-Days

• Implementation: You'll begin implementing the strategies outlined in the first 30 days. This may involve optimizing on-page elements, improving site structure, and enhancing local SEO factors such as citations and reviews.

• Content Development: You'll work on developing localized content strategies to target specific geographic areas served by the platform. This could include creating location-specific landing pages, blog posts, or resource pages.

• Technical SEO: You'll continue addressing technical SEO issues identified during the initial audit. This may involve resolving crawl errors, improving site speed, implementing schema markup, and optimizing for mobile friendliness.

• Monitoring and Reporting: You'll establish regular monitoring processes to track the performance of SEO initiatives. You'll create reports to measure key metrics such as organic traffic, keyword rankings, and conversions.

• Collaboration: You'll collaborate with other teams within the company, such as product development, marketing, and customer support, to ensure alignment and integration of SEO efforts with broader business goals.

90-Days

• Optimization and Refinement: You'll continue to optimize and refine the SEO strategies based on ongoing performance data and feedback. This may involve experimenting with new tactics, iterating on existing content, and fine-tuning technical aspects.

• Local Outreach: You'll focus on building relationships with local businesses and organizations to enhance the platform's visibility and authority within specific geographic areas.

• User Experience (UX) Optimization: You'll work on improving the overall user experience of the platform to increase engagement and retention. This may involve usability testing, A/B testing, and user feedback analysis.

• Education and Knowledge Sharing: You'll share insights and best practices with internal stakeholders and team members, educating them on the importance of SEO and how it contributes to the success of the local search platform.

• Long-term Planning: You'll start thinking about long-term SEO strategies and initiatives aimed at sustaining and further enhancing the platform's visibility and competitiveness in the local search market.

By the end of the first 90 days, you should have made significant progress in optimizing the platform for local search and laid the groundwork for ongoing SEO success. However, SEO is a continuous process, and you'll need to stay agile and adaptive to changes in search algorithms and user behaviour to maintain and improve the platform's performance over time.
