Role Overview
Our Client is seeking a Senior Lawyer to join its specialist TMT and IP practice. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for complex legal mandates across technology, media, telecommunications and intellectual property matters. This position calls for an experienced legal professional capable of operating independently, guiding clients through sophisticated regulatory and transactional issues, and contributing to the continued development of the department’s expertise and market presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Matter Management: Take full responsibility for high-level advisory and dispute-related assignments, ensuring delivery from initial instruction through to completion with strong commercial awareness and autonomy.
• Client Advisory: Act as a primary point of contact for international clients across sectors such as digital services, gaming, telecommunications, automotive, pharmaceuticals and media, providing clear and strategic legal guidance.
• Practice Development: Contribute to the expansion of key specialist areas within the team, including data governance, intellectual property strategy, digital regulation, artificial intelligence and technology-driven agreements.
• Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior lawyers, supporting their technical development while helping to enhance internal processes and knowledge-sharing practices.
• Professional Profile Building: Strengthen the Firm’s external visibility by contributing to publications, participating in speaking engagements and supporting thought leadership initiatives within the sector.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

• Education: A fully warranted legal professional with a recognised law degree; additional specialist qualifications such as an LL.M. will be considered advantageous.
• Experience: A minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience within TMT, intellectual property or a closely related legal discipline.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of both Maltese and English is required to succeed in this role. 
• Communication Skills: Strong drafting, negotiation and client-facing communication skills with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly.
• Interpersonal Skills: A collaborative and professional approach with the ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues and international clients.
• Technical Skills: Strong expertise in TMT and IP-related legal frameworks, including regulatory compliance, contractual drafting and digital law developments.
• Organisation: Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple high-value matters simultaneously under tight deadlines.
• Self-Motivated: A proactive and driven individual with a strong interest in emerging technologies and continuous professional development.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical ability with a pragmatic approach to resolving complex legal and commercial issues.
