Our client, operating within the insurance sector, is seeking to recruit a Senior Actuary to join their team of growing professionals. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting actuarial analyses and risk assessments to support business decisions.
  • Developing and maintaining actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and financial reporting.
  • Collaborating with underwriting, claims, and other teams to provide actuarial insights and recommendations.
  • Reviewing and validating data inputs for actuarial calculations.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and staying abreast of industry changes affecting actuarial practices.
  • Participating in the development of new insurance products and the enhancement of existing ones.
  • Assessing the impact of changes in economic conditions on the organization's actuarial assumptions and models.
  • Contributing to the preparation of actuarial reports for management and regulatory authorities.
  • Playing a key role in actuarial audits and communicating findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Providing guidance and mentoring to junior actuarial team members.
  • Conducting training sessions on actuarial concepts and practices within the organization.
  • Continuously seeking opportunities to improve actuarial processes and methodologies.
Skill-sets and Requirements
  • Proficiency in core non-life product categories, with a solid understanding of motor, health, and home business.
  • Experience in non-life valuation techniques and the calculation of IBNR/IBNER across different lines of business.
  • Expertise in calculating technical provisions aligned with Solvency II requirements.
  • Familiarity with IFRS 17 reporting standards, covering onerosity assessment, discount rate selection, liability calculation for incurred claims, and risk adjustment.
  • Ability to supervise and guide junior team members.
  • Confident communication with stakeholders, including Finance, IT, Data Governance, Operations, and Technical Areas, as well as Internal and External Audit.
  • Capability to present findings effectively to relevant committees.
  • Keen attention to detail and effective prioritization skills to meet crucial reporting and regulatory deadlines.
Education & Experience
  • Membership in a professional actuarial body, preferably the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
  • Proficiency in Actuarial software, including ResQ, along with experience in data investigation using BI tools and data manipulation/processing using R/Python.
