The Malta National Aquarium is currently looking to recruit a Payroll & HR Administrator to join their team on a full-time basis.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION
Playing a key role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll and supporting various HR functions within the organisation. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of payroll procedures and HR policies.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Processing:

  • Execute and oversee the end-to-end payroll process, including data entry, verification, and distribution of pay cheques or electronic transfers
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations regarding payroll procedures
  • Address payroll-related queries from employees and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate recording of payroll expenses.

HR Support:

  • Assist in the implementation and administration of HR policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate employee records and databases, including personal information, attendance, and leave records
  • Support the recruitment process by coordinating interviews, conducting background checks, and preparing employment contracts
  • Assist in employee onboarding and off-boarding processes.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with local regulations related to payroll and HR
  • Prepare and maintain reports related to payroll, employee data, and HR metrics as required.


KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Proven experience in payroll administration and HR functions
  • Proficiency in payroll software, preferably with Shireburn Indigo
  • Understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
