Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and properly garnishes pastry orders as they are received in accordance with recipes and proper plate presentation
  • Always adheres to Marriott’s standards of preparation, recipes, and presentation
  • Ensures preparation and service of all items in his/her section
  • Ensures that portions and appearance of pastry items are up to standard
  • Ensures that food from own station is delivered on time; asks for help if needed
  • Refers to SOPs to ensure that preparation, cooking and presentation specifications of all dishes produced in the section are up to standard
  • Assists the Head Chef in the daily operation of the kitchen
  • Communicates closely with the Team and takes every opportunity to become familiar with all aspects of his/her position so as to fill their position due to their absence. 
  • Produces the food of the highest possible quality as required by the Hotel
  • Takes the initiative to recommend to his/her supervisor changes in systems, methods or equipment to improve service


The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of all Food & Beverage standards, quality presentation, service and products and local health and sanitation standards;
  • Demonstrates proper and safe usage of all kitchen equipment;
  • Knowledge of all standard procedures and policies pertaining to food preparation, receiving, storage and sanitation;
  • Ability to support the control of food cost;
  • Ability to clearly define productivity standards with quality requirements and methods required to obtain them;
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently;
  • Rectify arising problems and complaints;
  • Be a team player;
  • Flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends.
