Introducing MAGNA GRECIA , a new concept by Yiamas F&B Operations Ltd, where authentic Greek and Italian flavours meet in perfect harmony. Whilst reporting to the Head Chef, the Kitchen Porter is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and assisting in the organisation of the kitchen and dishwashing areas at Magna Grecia.
The chosen candidate needs to have a friendly and positive attitude whilst working closely with the kitchen staff to ensure that an excellent level of customer service is delivered.
Duties
Inspect and clean food preparation areas, including equipment, work surfaces, and serving areas, to ensure compliance with safe and sanitary food-handling standards
Wash kitchen utensils, dishes, fridges, freezers, tables, and other kitchen items and equipment
Unpack deliveries and place items in freezers, cabinets, and other designated storage areas
Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and other preparations as instructed by the supervisor
Store deliveries in designated areas as instructed and ensure that items are correctly labelled and organised
Organise and maintain storage areas, fridges, and freezers
Remove waste and recyclables and dispose of them in the appropriate bins
Adhere to internal standard operating procedures followed by all kitchen personnel
Comply with all employer guidelines and legal requirements related to health and safety, hygiene, fire safety, licensing, and employment
Perform assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with operational requirements
Work Schedule
40 hours a week split as required by restaurant hours
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends/holidays as required
Experience
Minimum experience of 1 year in the food catering industry as a waiter will be considered an asset
Knowledge and Skills Required
Professional appearance and behaviour
Valid Skills Pass in line with Identita` Malta regulations, where applicable
Able to proficiently communicate in English, additional languages are welcome especially Greek
Knowledge of Greek cuisine and culture is a plus
Knowledge of safe food-handling practices and general kitchen hygiene (HACCP awareness considered an asset)
Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
Must be self-motivated and organised
Excellent talent to interact with people in a positive and courteous manner
