Commis Chef

Barceló Fortina Malta is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Commis Chef to join our culinary team, working alongside Executive Chef Mark Gauci.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Assist the kitchen team with the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes.
• Support the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef during food preparation and service.
• Prepare ingredients and ensure your workstation is organised and ready for service.
• Follow HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards at all times.
• Assist with stock rotation and help minimise food waste.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen.
• Work collaboratively with the team to ensure efficient daily operations.

Educational and skill requirements

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef or in a similar kitchen role is considered an asset.
• Experience in a hotel or restaurant environment is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
• Understanding of HACCP and food safety standards.
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and passion for hospitality.
• Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
