About Conduct Supervision:
Conduct Supervision oversees the way in which regulated entities design their products and services as well as the way in which they manage their relationship with consumers. By setting up a regulatory framework that secures appropriate customer protection, the Function ensures that clients of financial services are treated fairly, honestly, and professionally by regulated entities.

The Role:
Within this role you will be responsible for:
  • Planning the yearly schedule of onsite inspections and thematic reviews as necessary;
  • Leading and participating in the onsite inspections of trustees and company service providers;
  • Leading and participating in any thematic reviews undertaken at authorised trustees and CSPs;
  • Maintenance of, or providing support and oversight in relation to matters relating to the trust beneficial ownership register and any related supervisory work;
  • Participating in the analysis of data to help identify the biggest risks and prioritise the work of the Function;
  • Mentoring other junior analysts in carrying out their respective duties;
  • Handling planned or reactive supervisory issues that arise on a day to day basis;
  • Taking decisions and acting on her/his own in line with delegated authority and escalating issues outside her/his remit and area of responsibility;
  • Assuming responsibility for the management and development of direct reports;
  • Carrying out any duties relating to the conduct of business supervision in other areas of financial services;
  • Undertaking any other tasks as delegated by senior management in line with the exigencies of the Function.

About You:
You will have an Honours Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant area, such as Law, Banking & Finance or in another finance-related area, or a comparable recognised qualification at NQF level 6 or better duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC). A relevant Post-Graduate Degree would be considered an asset. You will also be expected to have worked within the financial services environment for a number of years, preferably not less than eight (8) years. Applicants should be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to trustees and CSPs operating in or from Malta.

If you do not have the necessary qualifications but have fifteen (15) years of relevant experience, we will still be interested in speaking with you.

You will also have:
  • Strong leadership and people management skills;
  • Ability to understand the impact of regulation on Trustees & CSPs and their underlying clients;
  • Ability to engage, maintain relationships, and influence at a senior level within the organisation (e.g. with Heads, Chief Officers, etc.) and externally (e.g. with Directors, Compliance Officers, Risk Managers, etc.);
  • Excellent prioritisation skills with the ability to manage a caseload of supervisory issues and deliver within respectable deadlines;
  • Strong analytical and judgment skills with the ability to distill complex issues in a brief synthesis of the problem, coming up with solutions and agreed on action plans;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to be primarily demonstrated in the presentation of papers to the Regulatory Committee.
