We are currently looking for a Compliance and Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Officer to join our fast growing and dynamic team. The opportunity to join the team at this stage in the Institutions’ journey provides for an exciting and rewarding experience. The Compliance and FCC Officer will have the opportunity to grow in a dynamic environment, whilst gaining knowledge and experience in the field of compliance and financial technology.

The chosen candidate will be heavily involved in supporting the Head of Compliance and MLRO in managing the Institution's Regulatory Compliance and FCC risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and providing effective guidance to the business on Regulatory and Financial Crime risks.

Key responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in the Institution’s efforts of maintaining a strong Regulatory Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering, and Counter-Terrorist Financing framework.
  • Support the Head of Compliance in daily Compliance activities, including ensuring the appropriate Compliance Risk Culture is implemented across the Institution to fulfill its Compliance and Financial Crime Compliance functions across all activities.
  • Assist the HoC in overseeing and managing the Institution’s Compliance framework in line with MFSA regulations, FIAU Implementing Procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Review and update the Compliance and AML/CFT related policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of effective training programmes to support all staff in keeping up to date with developments in Regulatory Compliance and FCC matters.
  • Participate in Compliance risk assessments led by the Compliance and FCC Function and ensure that appropriate controls are in place to manage identified risks.
  • Support the HoC in maintaining a comprehensive Compliance Obligations Register, ensuring that the Institution’s Compliance framework meets regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the creation and updating of a Business Risk Assessment (BRA) for the Institution across its various activities.
  • Assist with Compliance Risk Assessments.
  • Assist with the reporting to regulators, such as the Risk Evaluation Questionnaire to be submitted to the FIAU on a regular basis and other ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Review alerts generated during Client Screening & Transaction Monitoring activities undertaken by the Institution.
  • Assist with Compliance testing and client file reviews.
  • Escalate suspicious activity and/or transactions to the MLRO.
  • Provide guidance to the business on compliance matters, ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Be actively involved in the Due Diligence activities performed by the Institution during client onboarding (B2B and B2C).

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role within the financial services industry.
  • A Higher Education Qualification in Finance, Banking, or in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of the applicable local and EU legislation and supporting regulations.
  • Working knowledge of CDD/KYC requirements for different types of client onboarding and transaction monitoring.
  • Experience in undertaking onsite inspections/audits etc will be considered to be an asset.
  • Attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, and possesses strong interpersonal skills.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards.
