Hilton Malta is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Director of Finance to join their team on a full-time basis.

Overview:

Hilton Malta is seeking to recruit an Assistant Director of Finance. This position is a key leadership role, responsible for supporting the Director of Finance in managing the financial operations of the hotel. The ideal candidate will ensure that all financial activities align with Hilton's financial policies, local regulations, and the overall business strategy. This role plays a critical part in overseeing budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost control while maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity in all financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Support the Director of Finance in the preparation of accurate and timely monthly financial statements in accordance with Hilton’s standards and local regulations
    • Support in the preparation and submission of statutory related reporting (VAT returns; Surveys)
    • Overseeing Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations review; Preparation for month end Journals and monthly Payroll review.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Collaborate with department heads to support the Director of Finance in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly financial rolling forecasts
    • Monitor actual performance against budget, provide variance analysis, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Cost Control & Revenue Management
    • Implement and support cost control systems to ensure efficiency in resource utilization
    • Ensure financial controls are adhered to, including proper handling of cash flow, payroll, and accounts payable/receivable
    • Provide support to the Management team to understand and monitor effectively key cost drivers of the respective departments.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
    • Lead and Support in the delivery of Internal Finance Awareness Training Development Programs to Management and Supervisory teams
    • Participate in Management meetings; Organise and Coordinate Finance Team Building Events & Communication Meetings
    • Delegate tasks and oversee daily management of the finance team members, ensuring their work aligns with departmental goals and deadlines and in line with Hilton’s financial policies.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure all financial operations comply with internal policies, government regulations, and Hilton’s global standards
    • Liaise with internal and external auditors in the preparation and coordination of all audit requirements and coordination of the Finance team in timely delivery of such audit requirements.
  • Collaborative Partnerships
    • Work closely with the Director of Finance, General Manager and Department Heads, and corporate finance team to align financial strategies with business objectives
    • Serve as a key point of contact with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:
    • A recognized financial qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA or Bachelor’s degree in Finance) is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant finance experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, ideally within the hospitality industry
    • Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
    • Knowledge of Malta’s local accounting regulations, tax laws, and business practices is preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Hospitality relating systems (Opera; Micros) and MS Excel, Word and Outlook
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into business insights.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across departments
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight reporting deadlines
    • Detail oriented and organised.
