Malta Financial Services Authority is currently looking to recruit an Analyst to join their team on a full-time basis.

About the Function:
The Supervisory Quality Assurance function acts as a key contributor in the development of a quality-focused culture across the functions that fall within the scope of its remit. As part of the Second Line of Defence, the function’s primary activities focus on the review of processes being followed by such functions within scope, to safeguard and enhance the quality of their processes and activities, as well as of the resultant deliverables. 
In this regard, SQA emphasizes ensuring that consistency, effectiveness, efficiency and timeliness of the relevant processes and outputs are achieved to the greatest possible extent across the board. The function is also responsible for identifying emerging risks and deficiencies in the internal supervisory processes and offering recommendations to address shortcomings. Supervisory Quality Assurance ultimately assures management that the Authority’s processes and deliverables are aligned with international best practices and European Supervisory Authority standards, as well as with the Authority’s Strategic Priorities.

About the Role
As an Analyst within SQA, your responsibilities shall include:

  • Contributing to the formulation of the function’s annual quality assurance workplan, by adopting a risk-based approach, having regard to both emerging risks and the Authority’s Strategic Priorities in the supervisory sphere
  • Participating proactively in supervisory quality assurance reviews undertaken by the function
  • Drawing up well-structured and detailed quality assurance review reports following the conclusion of quality assurance reviews
  • Pro-actively following up and supporting functions to address any issues identified during such reviews
  • Supporting and guiding functions to achieve streamlined and effective documentation that is aligned with the Authority’s Policies and Procedures Governance Framework
  • Working with representatives from other support functions and the supervisory functions to enable the implementation and launch of new supervisory cycle management systems
  • Supporting functions to prepare for ESA Peer Reviews, where required
  • Collaborating with, and / or managing outreach to, external stakeholders, including local and foreign Competent Authorities and European Supervisory Authorities
  • Actively participating in internal and external meetings and committees, as may be required; and
  • Other ad hoc duties as may be required from time to time.


About You:
You ideally have experience within the financial sector, preferably within supervisory roles and / or with a background in auditing
The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.
You will also possess a minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred.
