R&D Specialist

Sentech Malta FP Limited is currently looking to recruit an R&D Specialist to join their team on a full-time basis.

The position:

This position reports to the Senior Engineer - R&D and will work in the R&D department.
The selected candidate’s main role will be environmental qualification testing of newly developed fibre optic gyroscopes and general R&D activities.

Amongst others, this position will be involved in maintaining the Qualification lab up to current requirements; creating, managing, and maintaining a comprehensive documentation system.
Furthermore being part of the R&D team, it is expected to have a general hands-on approach with the rest of the R&D team. 

Duties:
This position will also be responsible for testing optical components including but not limited to:  

• Measurement of distributed polarization crosstalk in a PM fibre with Michelson interferometer
• Responsible for performing various scientific testing including but not limited to; spectral analysis, measurements of beat lengths, various measurements on sld and use of interferometer
• To operate and test all equipment and machinery within the R&D group as and when required
• Development of new manufacturing technology and equipment.

The applicant
We would like to hear from professional graduates who:  

• Have a minimum MQF level of 6 or higher in sciences, preferred in Physics 
• Can make general use of Microsoft-based PCs and associated software 
• Are capable of working in a team environment 
• Are capable of good communication with technical and non-technical people 
• Are capable of working on their initiative.

Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and/or experience:  

• In the optical and photonics field 
• In a statistical analysis of Phyton.
