Operations Officer

Our client, an upper-tier COMAH high-hazard establishment operating a state-of-the-art, automated LPG marine terminal, bulk storage, and cylinder filling facility in Malta, is seeking an Operations Officer to manage daily plant operations, oversee shift workforce execution, and supervise bulk marine and road LPG logistics under strict safety compliance standards.

The Main Responsibilities include: 

• Assisting and deputising for the Plant Manager in the daily running of terminal and plant activities.
• Assigning shift operators and labourers to cylinder filling and testing stations to hit daily production targets.
• Supervising cylinder controllers and floor teams to ensure safe execution, floor discipline, and correct procedures.
• Assisting directly with and supervising high-risk LPG marine ship unloading operations and road tanker loading/unloading.
• Coordinating periodic preventative maintenance and urgent repairs on plant machinery, automated systems, and equipment.
• Partnering with the HSEQ Officer to enforce strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards (COMAH compliance)
• Tracking daily gas stocks, production outputs, spare parts stores, employee attendance, and overtime rosters.
• Maintaining high standards of plant cleanliness, general housekeeping, and safety readiness across the site.

Working Hours:

Monday - Friday, 8AM - 5PM 

Requirements

• Hands-on leader capable of dividing time between floor coordination and office administration.
• Solid understanding of pressurized gas networks, automated PLC production lines, and preventative maintenance protocols.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Maltese is highly advantageous for communicating with floor staff.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Industrial Engineering.
• Possession of a valid local Engineering Warrant.
• Proven technical background in operations or plant management
